WritingChat is an internet mailing list / discussion forum for writers owned by Debi Shinder (shown below with her husband, Tom). Unlike some lists, WritingChat is not a workshop and posts are not limited to issues related to writing techniques. To the contrary, WChat was designed to be a friendly place where writers from the more technically-oriented lists could get together and get to know one another, "shoot the bull," share aspects of their lives outside their work, crow over triumphs and commiserate over tragedies, and lend one another support and, above all, friendship. WritingChat is a little like the small core group that goes out to the local coffeeshop after a formal writing workshop, to socialize in a less formal atmosphere without the limitations imposed by the structure of a workshop environment. The members of WritingChat are a diverse lot: writers representing many genres and forms: poets, novelists, non-fiction writers in every field from religious publications to technical journals, fiction writers whose material covers the gamut from children's literature to erotica. The common bond we share is a love of language and words and the creation of something new and exciting out of what was once a blank page (or computer screen).
